There was an harvest of goals in the Barclays Premier League
matches played on Friday, boxing day, with Chelsea, Manchester City,
Manchester United, among others recording victories.
Chelsea continue their stunning form this season under Jose Mourinho
after nailing West Ham United 2-0 to maintain their three ponits lead
over their fiercest rival, Manchester City. Though the Chelsea boss
has noted in their last match that they have the toughest fixtures
ahead this festive period; the Blues are taking no chances to extend
their dominance on top of the League.
Similarly, Manchester City hammered West Brom 3-1 to mount more
pressure on league leaders Chelsea.
In another cracker, Manchester United continue their scintillating run
of the season and also revive their title hope after they white-washed
Newcastle United 3-1 thanks to Wayne Rooney's brace and another
strike by Robin Vanpersie to make it seven wins out of eight games for
the reds. A late consolation goal from Cisse was not enough to earn a
point for the helpless Magpies.
However, Louis Vangaal remains in the dark over the inury of United's
talisman, Angel Dimaria who suffered an injury on christmas day during
a trainning session.
Arsene Wenger's ten-man team also recorded a deserved victory after
defeating QPR 2-1 with Oliver Giround earning a red card. Goals from
skipper Alexis Sanchez and Rosicky was enough to earn the Gunners the
needed three points.
Liverpool aslo returned to winning ways after defeating struggling
Burnley 1-0; while Southampton humbled Crystal Palace 3-1
